Not a very deep question, but it seems to me, Nike and @cactusplantfleamarket got something going on that Nike doesn’t have going with anyone else. I know virtually nothing about CPFM as a brand, so please forgive my ignorance if it’s obvious.
On the ‘business of hype’, @jeffstaple talked about collaborating with Nike on several projects at which Nike pretty much gave him the silhouette and gave him the options. I’ve heard similar descriptions from others who have collaborated with Nike…so why does CPFM get the wildest stuff coming out of their collaborations?
I have a hard time believing that Nike approached CPFM with artificial green pubes or a misshapen Velcro swoosh that looks strangely dildo-ish…so…what in the bejewels is going on here?
My guess? In Nikes quest to have their hands in every subculture imaginable, I think they’re using CPFM to at least enter the conversation that MSCHF has been creating. Their collaborations seem to be an attempt at taking a bite out of the ‘those are f*cking weird but kinda cool ’ market that @mschf has pretty much defined…
What do y’all think?
