Saw a story highlight on @sneakerpreservationsociety that said there were actually *less* OG Mac Attacks than there were Travis Attacks and reminded me of this trick that some of these collectibles companies started pulling in the late 80’s and 90’s…
In the 80’s and 90’s there was this massive influx of money coming in from kids who had ‘disposable income’ this kinda new idea that kids didn’t have to pay rent but could blow all their money on dumb stuff like baseball cards and comic books…so…what these companies started doing…they started marketing everything as ‘limited edition’ or ‘collectors items’ and unbeknownst to most kids - the quantity of ‘limited edition’ items far exceeded anything that wasn’t labeled as such.
I guess everyone probably assumed the OG Attack would sit while the Trav flew off shelves - but both did. Not totally sure what to make of it, but IMO, quantity produced is certainly a factor.
That being said - now that Trav merch has been assumed to be ‘limited edition’ (think of the Utopia AF1), is Nike upping production on anything Trav related to fill the massive gap?
