Huge FP1 fan here...pretty funny reading through the 'news' that the flightposite 1 will be re-releasing (yet again).
The question most purists always have, yet again, is 'will the FP1 have the medial flap (which is the little flap that extends from the sole up to the midsole around the ball of the foot into the inner side of the shoe). I'm not totally sure what Nike's reasoning is behind the fact that they DIDN'T include it on their last retro, but speculation was pretty high. IMO - I think they elminated it because every pair I had ever seen had the flap actually flapping (the glue was weak).
BUT...on these 'release news' posts...my favorite comment to read comes from people who think they know everything but likely aren't using logic in their arguments...the old 'Nike destroyed the original molds'. I don't know if that's true...but I would assume it is. But. Would 'destroyed molds' actually prevent Nike from releasing a shoe? Any shoe? This was ALSO what everyone claimed back in the day as to why they didn't retro the Penny 2 in the early 2000's....'they destroyed the molds'. What's funny is that the first retro of the Penny 2 came with a MUCH better shape than the original Penny 2. IMO 'new molds' probably make for a higher quality product.
Again, I don't know if it's true - it could be - but logically speaking, why couldn't the most profitable sneaker company of all time have more (or new) molds created? Plenty of small, one person brands create NEW MOLDS ALL THE GODDAM TIME, and they do it out of their pockets with tiny budgets and no assurances of sales...
Additionally, a few weeks (months?) ago I posted a pic from China showing that the actual medial flap is present on upcoming retros. But. We'll see.
Moving on...
The gold pair is the pair I actually still own.f..I hope they come with lots of dope colorways this time (as they did back in 2018-19). I hope they come with the carbon fiber pair (with actual carbon fiber instead of just carbon fiber print)...anyway, what do y'all think? Medial flap or notJ?
