So this is kinda the thing…
Despite the fact that I’m over-the-hill and am considering TRT, I can play basketball. I’m not like crazy good or anything, but I can hold my own against most people that can play ball. I hurt myself probably 23% of the time, and I have to take extended breaks, but the fact that (playing) basketball has been a significant part of my life (30+ years), I can play ball.
And..I can run. Or jog. Or maybe it’s yog? I believe it’s called yogging. I spent several years yogging on a regular basis. Not like extensively or anything, but, it’s pretty easy. Just put one foot in front of the other at as good a clip as you can for an extended period of time.
And…when I was a kid. I could skate. Not like skate, skate, but like I can skateboard from point A to point B. I couldn’t do anything all that impressive in the air, but I could definitely make my way around some pebbles or rocks in the road.
And I’ve been to Europe many times. And I’ve been to other countries. So I at least understand regional fashion sensibilities.
And because of those things…I feel like it’s kinda ok to be rocking some Jordans, or Kobes, or Air Maxes, or SBs...or even some older Reeboks…or…I dunno…Adidas or Diadoras or NBs or Asics or Mizunos.
As a kid, I played maybe a season or two of soccer, and maybe a season or two of baseball, about a half season of football, and a few years snowboarding. The sport I had probably the most natural talent at - golf - didn’t really matter, though, because I didn’t have the patience for it. But so I didn’t stick with any of those sports either because (a) I wasn’t good at them (b) I didn’t like them.
So believe me when I tell you…nothing makes me feel like more of a phony than wearing these Total 90 III’s. If Nike makes any shoe in a black-denim makeup, I’m in for it. But can anyone tell me why I have 3 pairs of Total 90’s when I haven’t played more than 8 minutes of soccer in the past 35 years…?
I mean…what am I even doing here?
