A few thoughts...
Drake's Nocta Glide 2
Yeah, yeah, I know...all the blogs been referring to this as the 'Hot Step 2' but that name means NOTHING to me and I bet some dude referred to it as the 'Hot Step 2' on his IG and one blog took it and then another blog took it from that one and then before you know it EVERYONE was calling it the wrong name. No reason this should be thought of as the Hot Step 2 considering what it is...because...the Hot Step was like an updated 90's ACG, the Glide was like an updated 90's BBall shoe...and this one is another amalgamation of old basketball shoes from the 90's (as brought to my attention to @nickengvall 's blog 'Outside the Box')...anyway:
1. I figure it's gotta be a challenge to try to figure out a sneaker identity for an entertainer...I commend the effort.
2. That being said, are these designers going for the 'let's resurrect obscure 90's Nikes in various forms' as a style aesthetic? If so, I AM HERE FOR IT.
3. Even though I am here for it, this shoe looks REALLY ugly to me. The chunky look plus..what is with these colors? Completely out of my lane.
4. What exactly is the goal with these shoes and this whole experiment? Do they want people to buy them or do they want to build a brand around this dude or...I'm confused. It's not like people are buying these to perform in. Are they? Is it just a lifestyle thing?
5. If someone put Nikes resources at my disposal and tasked me with building a line around Drake, I really don't think I could do a better job.
6. Gotta give the designers credit for not just changing the colors on an already successful silhouette to push the 'Drake' agenda.
7. I personally couldn't care less about this shoe actually existing, tho, because I ain't wasting a second of my life trying to buy it.
Y'all buying?
