I think…it was like 2018 or 2019 when I found a pair of those Dunk SB ‘NBA’s at the Nike Clearance store in San Leandro (CA) for $29.99…definitely at the doldrums of the Dunk scene when things were DUMB cheap and no one gave a damn. It’s a nice shoe…royal blue satin. And the NBA logo was…just…I dunno…unexpected.
I copped them and debated wearing them for a few weeks before ultimately deciding to pass them along. Pretty sure I sold them for like $40 or $50. Whatever. I turned around and copped a couple of the Nike Dunk SB x NBA satin jackets shortly after. I think I bought the Knicks colorway and then the bulls colorway (used). The bulls jacket, I got on eBay, came with a dime bag in the pocket. And…again…I think I held onto these jackets without *ever* wearing them for several years before deciding to pass them along (again).
A few weeks ago I saw the hoodie. Just a grey hoodie with a swoosh and an NBA logo dead center with a Nike SB logo on the back kidney area. Copped. And rocked.
I am curious about this whole collaboration and the thinking behind it…like what it was supposed to be? I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anyone actually wear anything from the pack. If you told me, in 2020, that there was going to be an NBA SB dunk, I would have automatically assumed it was going to be red, white and blue (to match the logo), with the logo on the heel or the tongue. And I would have expected it to have been a MASSIVE hit. So why is this one such a dud?
(An aside: I blew it by not including this shoe in our #DunkyDunks2 set…smh)
