The range of fake reactions I've seen to the Wemby logo are nothing short of...boring, hyperbolic and entirely predictable. Premature. God forbid the powers that be have a reasonable reaction to anything new or novel. Why does everything always have to be 'the greatest thing ever' or 'the worst thing ever'? Can't someone just say...'we'll see'? Nike's 'coolest', 'out of this world', 'stunning' Wemby logo feels like everyone followed the script just a little too closely.
Granted, the commercial was dope. And the fact that Nike paid some farmer a few dollars or whatever to cut some crop circles was also an interesting tactic.
But JFC. Let's take a sip of 'calm-the-f***-down juice'. Right?
I don't hate the logo. I don't dislike the logo. It's OK. It's cool. It's really just too new for me to really give any kind of damn whatsoever. I need at least 4 more years of Wemby *making an impact* for me to put it anywhere near the past 40 years of Nike releasing dope logos...all of which make me feel some sort of way...
I do notice a trend, tho, of Nike positioning athletes and entertainers (and influencers) and events in an spectacularly optimistic way...I just never knew how big their circle of influence was when every single news article I saw said some version of 'Wemby's logo is out of this world!'
Let's hope it all works out...
