Between Ye and Jordan and the rest of that Chicago crew (@chicagodonc and @virgilabloh ) …I been wondering…why wasn’t Ye given a Jordan silhouette to collaborate on?
There’s probably a simply and obvious answer to this question but this is something I didn’t fact check.
Virgil got the 1’s, 2’s, 4’s, 5’s
Don C got his 2’s and the 312’s
Ye got a pair of sample 6’s
It seems that the process is usually…Nike collaborates with a star by giving them a colorway of a popular model, then once the success is proven through that they start giving the collaborators their own silhouettes (ie Travis, Drake). So why, with Kanye, did they skip that whole ‘let’s see where this leads’ phase?
I guess the question comes more from me wondering if Kanye has the notion of regret…Like does he regret how any of this (with Nike or Adidas) went down? There are a lot of Jordan collaborations with rappers at this point - why isn’t there one for arguably biggest name in the space?
