The answer is zero. Absolutely zero. Even though I'm a bit on the 'old' side when it comes to sneakers, for whatever reason I've never worn a pair of Adidas Shelltoe Superstars. It's not really that I didn't want to, but every time I was presented with a pair, I opted for something a bit...sleeker. That big bulbous toe really threw me off. But. When I was really young...I'm talmbout like 10-12 years old, I remember my dad got a pair of black and gold superstars at Ross and I *really* wanted a pair, because I had seen them on a few hip hop CD covers... I knew the likelihood of me getting a pair was really really low...they were expensive and my parents were more into the dollar store kinda shoes. For whatever reason, I DID know how Ross worked at the time (and I don't think my dad did), so I devised a selfish plan to secure a pair... One time when we were doing something, I asked him if he'd buy me the same pair as him. He said he would, but I knew the chances of them having the same pair 6+ months later at Ross was nearly zero. So...we went...they didn't have them...and I threw an absolute fit. The ADIDAS ones were the ones I wanted and I wouldn't accept anything else. So we looked everywhere. But. The only thing I didn't know...they couldn't be found at ANY of the sporting goods stores, either. Backfire. Anyway...I never ended up with that pair and never got a pair for wear after that. I sold a couple of the city pairs (Berlin, New York, etc.) in the early 2000's, but that was it. Made me wonder...what 'staples' are there that you never got around to owning?
