So…today…ranking Steph’s shoes…Initial impression and in order of preference: 5’s, 4’s, 6’s, 7’s, 2’s. Everything else is some version of ‘meh’ to me. I really like the shape on the first few…they look sleek. Not much more to say than that.
But…a bit further…will these grow on me over time? If I’m being honest with myself…if I want them to grow on me over time, they will.
One thing I’ve noticed about sneakers and my participation in the ‘culture’, is that I can and have talked myself into any and everything imaginable. And not because I had some sort of predilection towards something…but…I think…more because I just spent a great deal of time thinking about them. Y’all ever notice that? The more energy you give to something the more you find yourself around it? I remember those Martine Rose Monarchs…boy I spent a ton of time roasting those on IG and when a pair actually popped up at my local, I couldn’t resist. Just…wild.
I feel like that’s the reason most of these shoes are doing what they’re doing now…they’re selling and selling out ONLY because they are dominating the news cycles. I’m absolutely confused as to how anyone could give a damn about that Travis Cactus Jack shoe, but that when I admit to myself that Nike and JB and TS got us in a choke hole it’s no longer a surprise. I guess…then…what would Steph or Under Armor have to do to get anyone to care about his shoe like they care about a TS shoe?
