Every time I see another OG colorway, my mind just tunes out. Its almost like it doesn’t even register because, well, I guess it’s like that Steve Jobs philosophy behind the black turtleneck and the jeans: what more can I learn or say or find interesting about a shoe I’ve steadily been aware of for ~35 years?
I mean, yea, obviously, an all time great silhouette. And, yea, obviously, an all time great colorway. But…at what point does ‘all time’ turn into…‘it’s time to move on?’
I suppose there will always be ‘new’ sneakerheads that get excited about OG models that haven’t yet released since they’ve been interested in sneakers and I suppose there will always be older sneakerheads that never owned a pair…but…for me…*yawn*
I suppose an interesting question around the topic could be…at what point will Nike find it more profitable to just keep OGs on the shelves instead of putting money and effort behind these rollouts? Will there *ever* be specific evergreen models that Nike and JB just keep on the shelves? I’m thinking like black chuck taylors or white/black superstars or white/blue monarchs…once the luster wears thin…is that what OGs will be relegated to?
