With all of the madness currently focused on Dunks and Dunk SBs...what’s gonna be the next trend that the sneaker world hops on?
I’m old, but not old enough to say I know what’s gonna come next. I do believe fashion trends tend to go in cycles...but the ‘sneaker scene’ is a bit too young for me to say anyone can accurately predict what’s going to blow next.
If I remember correctly...around 2004/2005, once people started getting a little burnt out on Dunk SBs, the attention started to shift towards Air Force 1’s…I remember all kinds of gross colorways and ridiculous storylines being told that had people eating ‘em up. There were definitely a handful of cool pairs, but I remember a bunch of low with patent leather in the ugliest colorways...the Miskeens, the Coogis, the World Cup, the Lebron Chamber of Fear, the Halloweens, etc. Air Forces were hot for a while.
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the Air Force 1’s that @digglahhh has been posting - I’ve purchased a few from him over the past few months and they’re 20+ year old pairs that rarely ever come around. Like the pair above - the pair I wore today. I purchased a pair of these in...I dunno...maybe the year 2000 for $49.99 at the Gilroy Outlets...I wore them for years on the basketball court and throughout college before I sold them about 10 years later. My pair was a WELL-LOVED pair.
But you get rid of a well-loved pair. If you remember it, you start wishing you still had it. I saw a pair pop up on NikeTalk a few years later for $30 and I was an hour or so too late. I’ve kept my eyes open for them ever since...so when I saw them on @digglahhh IG I had to pounce no more than 30 seconds after he posted them. At this age...I’m starting to revert. I’m starting to let go of some of the newer, interesting pairs, and I’m starting to pick up the things that I was really into when I was younger.
This point of this post was to ask ‘what’s next’? I think I answered that in a roundabout way...but what do YOU think is next?
