Easily one of my favorite albums (and rappers) of all time - every time I see someone talking about this album I think back to the ‘Penny II’ conspiracy.  
 
Can’t lie - when ‘Pac died, I was in high school. 16 years old. I remember hearing on the radio that he had passed and I cried. Legit tears. Dude was wayyyyy ahead of his time.  
 
Shortly after he died, magazines started publishing information that he was actually alive and was coming back after 7 years. All kinds of theories popped up...from the ‘Suge shot ‘em’ line in the opening seconds of the album, down to the choice of name change, to the promo pics and Cuba and blah blah blah.  
 
One of the theories was that ‘Pac couldn’t be dead because there is a clip of him in a video wearing Penny II’s. And Penny II’s apparently didn’t release for another 6 months.  
 
Back then there wasn’t Youtube, so you couldn’t just look it up and find the pic the conspiracy theorists were talking about. You had to catch the video on MTV. And back then, TVs weren’t even that good so it was like impossible to catch unless you could record it, then pause it, then rewind and watch it again. It was absurd. I remember watching said video (‘Toss it Up’) with Jodeci and thinking ‘God, those don’t look like Penny II’s. But I can’t see shit. How can anyone tell what those are? I guess if all of these news outlets are talking about it, I guess they’d have to be Penny II’s.’

I’m happy to say, I looked it up again...today. I watched the video, found the screenshot in question and...they’re not Penny II’s. And as a matter of fact, I have LITERALLY NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL 2PAC HAS ON HIS FEET in this screen shot (swipe). Anyone have any idea?
