Resident denim-selvedge gawd @kingjamesthefifth hit me up the other day asking if I was following the saga of the Carmine VI’s…and...although I had seen a couple of posts here and there, I wasn’t really paying attention...there aren’t all that many Jordans that I’m interested in...and I’ve owned so many OG’s that any time they re-release my mindset is always ‘been there, done that.’
If you’re not following - it appears that some of these Carmine VI’s that are set to release on February 13th (or 20th depending on who you trust) are showing up with *pink midsoles (which should be white). I don’t know if there are enough pairs with that issue to pull back the release, but similar things have happened before…
I always think of those Grey Toe XIII’s - the ones with the Burgundy suede panels that completely bled over onto the ‘pods’ pretty much ruining the shoe for me (look at the StockX stock photo above SHEESH)
Jordan Brand had a pretty significant release planned out for the ‘Class of 2002’ Carmelo Anthony Jordan XIII, but once they saw the product in hand, they realized that quality was so poor that they couldn’t justify a proper release for them. I saw a few pairs in hand and the glue stains - the GLUE STAINS were so bad that Jordan Brand actually thought it would be better to cancel the official release and just send EVERY SINGLE PAIR to the outlets. It was an OUTLET ONLY release - if you look up the shoe on StockX - it’s actually labeled as a ‘B-Grade’ in the title…
Assuming only a fraction of these Carmine VI’s end up with the pink midsole - be careful where you’re buying them from. If StockX doesn’t make the distinction, it might be a risk to purchase these site unseen (unless you’d be happy to own a pair with the pink midsoles - shout out to #valentinesday )
