I don’t know if it’s group bias or whatever, but if you scroll through the comments of the ‘Most Comfortable Shoe’ post from the other day - just about everyone who mentions Jordans says the most comfortable Jordans are the XII’s or XIII’s…to reiterate - we have 35 years of Jordan signature models, and the best they’ve been able to do - comfort-wise - was 20+ years ago? Not a single one of us said the shoes got incrementally better. Not even one of us. We settled on 20+ year old tech for our comfort. I’m not talkin shit, I find that to be an interesting point...even with all of the technological breakthroughs, we still prefer shoes from the late 90’s. Why is that?
If you look at old pics of people playing basketball, you can see that there were dudes literally playing in what-look-to-be dress shoes in like the early 1900’s. AG Spaldings very first shoes from the 1890’s look like wrestling shoes. They say the first big ‘leap’ in basketball shoe technology was the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star - and, I suppose, if you were wearing leather dress shoes to play before they came out, you were probably really happy to wear Chucks - but I can tell you there is probably zero chance you’d be able to convince anyone in this day and age to wear Chucks on court…
I dunno. Obviously there are better models for basketball than Jordans...Lebrons and Kyries I hear are pretty good. I’ve heard Curry’s are great on court. I loved wearing (some) Kobe’s and I love my BB4 Shox and one dude said he loved GP’s and it’s plain to see that everyone has different preferences, but I find it funny that so many of us agreed the XII and XIII are up there as the most comfortable J’s. Do you think this is something JB or Nike cares about? Or are they more about ‘fashion’ than they are about ‘comfort’?
