I always find DB leaks on social media to be kinda interesting. Not sure if you saw the latest Jordan 5 DB leak, but this is it and a few of the comments. The comments on the original posts I’ve seen - @sneakerbardetroit - - fall on some scale of mildly respectful to downright juvenile. I like both comments shown below - these people understand that it’s not about them.
From what I understand about DB shoes - they’re kinda like ‘make a wish’ releases - they find a kid who has a medical condition, team them up with a Nike designer, and let them go buck-wild with a silhouette. The kid tells the designer all their likes, dislikes, stories, inspirations, colors, etc. and then that designer whips up a rendition and the kid - THE KID - gets the final say on approval.
I don’t understand what makes grown men hop on social media to spew their negative-ass opinions on something that clearly wasn’t made for them, but it seems this is where we always end up.
These shoes are not my style. And that’s ok. They were not MEANT to be my style. I’m a 41 year old man. But am I gonna utter a negative word about them or the design of them? A KID led the design. A KID! As a grown man, I know that I wouldn’t have half a mind to show this kind of imagination. I mean…from the colors to the mac n cheese to the eyeball and the flight logo and the (rumored) swoosh…this is HIS design. Let it be.
