I always thought - when a high visibility/hype collaboration comes out - can’t they create one shoe for the collectors (with some special logo or something) and one for the masses?
Kinda like how they do with baseball cards - base version is easy to obtain, easy to acquire, while prism or refractors or special versions are more for the fanatics (or collectors or big pocketed folks).
What if Nike - now that they’re going direct to consumer - randomly placed the collectors versions in shipments so the whole thing became somewhat like ripping card packs?
What would an accessible off-white x Jordan collab WITHOUT off-white branding look like? All these folks with $5k to drop on a pair of shoes can do so if they want, and all those people with $150 to drop on a pair of shoes can do so as well.
Would this dilute brand value? Would it dilute brand perception? IMO this would add a bit of fun to the space…The element of surprise really hooks people in…
Good idea? Bad idea?
