I know I’ve told this story a few times, but this story was actually the impetus FOR the Air Max Plus ‘Wanted’ insert cards in the Air Max Pax set…
I had always kept my eyes open for some Air Max Plus 3’s (before the recent retro), but literally NEVER found a pair in my size. I owned a pair of size 14’s, a couple of size 6’s and I think a size 13. It was such an elusive shoe for me - I never even seen any for sale at retail, ever.
Back around 2007/2008, I saw a thread on Niketalk where this dude was claiming he had seen some black leather pairs of Air Max Plus 3’s in a Footlocker somewhere in South Carolina that day. He didn’t say what location he was talking about and he didn’t respond to any DMs.
So.
I freaked out. I went on this wild goose chase googling all of the Foot Lockers in South Carolina and calling EVERY SINGLE FOOTLOCKER to see if they had any in stock and if I could order a pair. I didn’t have a product code or anything so it was all on me to explain it to whichever poor bastard happened to answer the phone. I guess the guy from NT must have either been lying or didn’t know what he was talking about. But I still kinda held out hope.
I spent the better part of the day calling around…and I kept on trying to get the guy in the thread to respond, but no luck.
This pair popped up on a FB group the other day and…shit...it …looks like the pair that I went searching for AND the production dates match up. It just goes to show why I made that ‘wanted’ set: ’Never Retro’d! Never released out west! Immediately Contact the Sneaker Savant if found! Reward!’
Anyway, The Air Max Pax cards are dropping for good this #airmaxday - 3/26. Make sure you cop a few packs (or boxes) cuz they are GONE after this push.
