I know this is kinda dumb...
And...you probably won't even bother to read this if you're not a pedantic sneaker nerd (like I am)...but I get these thoughts in my head every once in a while and I just have to ask myself... 'now what is the intent?'
Not sure if you remember...but back when the pandemic really started kicking off, Nike rolled out their new shipping packages, complete with Nike tape wrapped all around the box. And...yea...I suppose...for a company like Nike...it's *marketing* because it makes your packages *slighly* stick out from the rest. But it's probably *also a bit more expensive. To wrap up a million plus boxes a year with custom 'Nike' packing tape. But what else does it do? It increases the likelihood that a customers package is going to be targeted for theft. And that's exactly what happened...so if I had the opportunity to ask the decision makers at Nike what the purpose of that was, I would.
Similar question for me with size tag placement. Some shoes have stuck with the size tag being sewed to the liner, some to the tongue, but now they've begun attaching them to (removeable) insoles. A recent change that hasn't been going on for long, but it has made me wonder...'what, exactly, is the intent with this change?' Insoles come and go. It's a pain in the ass to legit check (or even *size* check something without a size tag).
It's not a big deal, but I've often wondered how Nike feels about the whole 'legit check' thing that has taken the sneaker world 'by storm' the past few years...and...yea...y'all know I do it because I can but I think it's just a ridiculous thing. I *hate* telling people I do it. Is Nike trying to disrupt this practice? Or is there a simpler reason for this change?
