I know everyone and their mother is weighing in on the Kanye show, but I don't know if I could really say anything that has already been said a billion times already...what I'm about to write/ask here might be a stretch, but I figure it's interesting fodder for discussion...
If you weren't poking around the sneaker scene when Nike let Kanye go and do his thing with Adidas, a lot of people thought Nike was taking a huge L by letting him go...and...yea...for a bit...it looked like they made a mistake. For years, I've heard that part of the reason they let him go was cuz he once lost his sh*t with @tinkahat ...
So... seeing this clip today and knowing how Nike is (with their psychology-driven marketing)...did Nike know they would be dodging a bullet by letting him go? Did they see the writing on the wall before anyone else did?
Usually, when a corporation detects a liability, they just cut ties with that liability...but what happens happens when that liability is responsible for 1/10 of your revenue? What do you do?
Do you think, if Adidas could go back in time and pass on the relationship, would they?
