After that post about the 'swoosh story' on Monday, it had the wheels turning...
I'm not saying that I don't believe the 'waffle' story, but have you ever considered whether or not it's true? I remember when I went to portland a few years back, I even saw the (supposed) waffle iron in question...I mean...it has to be true, right? RIGHT? This story is SO pervasive, they've even printed it on the inside of the tongue tag (see above)...
If you follow this stuff like a lot of us do, you KNOW that Nike makes up certain stories to sell things...some of the most 'successful' Nike shoe (stories) are based on a lie...but this one...arguably the 'genesis moment' of the brand...is one I must've read a thousand times over. And I never really questioned it. Until I read that swoosh story.
So...what would be the implications if this story weren't true? It's not like anyone is checkin for waffles (except yours truly), but...what if it's all a lie?
