Not sure if y'all were paying attention yesterday, but @zaptio , co-founder of the NFT company that @nike purchased a few months ago, posted a quick video of him scanning a pair of sneakers with his phone to show the blockchain entry for the exact pair he had in his hands...This is something I've talked about multiple times on this account as I always thought it was the only fool-proof method of sneaker authentication...(again. to me, this is the future). Shoutout to @franalations for reposting the video...

Anyway, it was cool to see...but...did you know...it wasn't the FIRST time that Nike embedded a scannable chip inside of their shoes? They actually did this in 2018!

From @hypebeast: "NikeConnect technology will be introduced to footwear for the first time for the NYC-exclusive release of the Air Force 1 NikeConnect QS. The tech utilizes a Near-Feild Communication chip for Nike+ app users to tap on the shoe’s embedded chip, which opens access to a monthly release method called The Choice.

The Choice allows customers to buy one of two limited-edition kicks. The company is beta testing the initiative of adding NikeConnect to other footwear releases by limiting the AF1 NikeConnect QS to New York’s select Nike+ members. Although the release is slated for this month, an exact date has yet to be announced."

I actually didn't know of this (before seeing this tweet a few weeks back), but reading about the early adaptations of this had me wondering if any of y'all actually purchased a pair of these AF1 NYC's...and how the program has been going for those that own...Did y'all AF1 heads know about this? @ervinshoes @pgknows @solesupreme ?

Do you or anyone you know own these?
