I posted this the other day on my story and mentioned that I thought it was actually the best Off-White x Nike sneaker on the list and I got a lot of DMs…would I wear it? Debatable. Looks like a pain in the ass for the types of activities I’m usually into.
But at the end of the day, I’m a sucker for original designs. I love seeing designers take a stab at something off the wall, even if it flops. I love seeing people take chances, even if the masses think they’re trash. That’s why that @forty_two_and_a_half is such a mesmerizing account IMO. I’d say that new concepts are what really drives me to buy anything new these days - if the design is new (and not just a rehash of an earlier design), I’m probably gonna cop, even if it’s just to look at it.
Early on in my IG life, I once wrote a caption about how I loved the risk that @jerrylorenzo took with the Air Fear of God 1, and I talked a bit about how lame and unoriginal I thought the Vans x FOG shoe was. Jerry saw the post and commented on my Vans take and ignored all of the gushing I made over his originality…but that’s neither here nor there. The FOG was a great shoe because of the originality and IMO it has stood the test of time. Dope.
I don’t dislike the 1’s or the Prestos or the Waffle Racers or the AF1’s or 97’s or 90’s or any of those…I just see those as ‘safe’. He took bonafide hits and reworked them slightly and folks lost their minds…which is fine…it’s just not what I consider to be ‘original design’ (that’s why I get so heated when dudes keep trying to convince me that 35+ year old silhouettes with new colors are ‘sneaker of the year’ candidates for 2022)…
Anyway…what do y’all think of these?
