News over on the Twittersphere (that I haven’t seen over here) is that @complex hasn’t been paying some of their top ‘independent’ creators. Upon hearing this news last month, my first reaction was ‘hmmm…I had no idea these independent content creators were getting paid by one of the the least independent media companies in the space…hey…I’m still independent…When am I gonna start seeing some checks for these daily essays I been writing?”
Tbh I don’t really follow any of these guys but know of the work they do… @kustoo pretty much being the top dude out there..
Having been an accountant in a past life, I can see how certain things can go wrong with payments…but I also know how quick it can be to fix things. With the amount of money I’m sure Complex has been raking in, I’m curious as to why this conversation has been going on for more than a month now… any theories? This could have or should have been fixed or addressed within a day. Y’all think Complex is actively trying to stiff these people or is it ‘accounting issues’? If complex is actively trying to stiff these dudes…I should find some better uses of my time 😂
