After seeing another (wack) custom related to the Chunky Dunk, I had to take a step back and ask myself...'why do ALL of these customs just look so bad?'
Then I came to a realization...maybe they don't really look bad...maybe I just don't like the original shoe any more. And that begat the question: why did I even like it in the first place?
- Was it because we were only a few months into the pandemic and I was looking for some comfort?
- Was it because I just really like Ben & Jerry's ice cream and limited edition shoes?
- Was it the sheer audacity of the colorway and model?
- Or was I duped by the marketing (yet again)?
Whatever it was, I liked it and defended it for a brief time...but now...seeing all of these super sh*tty fakes and horrible renditions of this color-way on other shoes...this shoe just screams TACKY to me. Why does anyone need a dual-branded-ice-cream-carton-packaging-colored-skateboard-shoe?
There are plenty of shoes that have overplayed their hand IMHO, but the Chunky Dunky went from 100 to 0 for me A LOT quicker than the others. What are some shoes or colorways that have overplayed their hand for you?
