A few questions from a legit sneaker curmudgeon (me)…
1. Are there actual golfers out here who give a sh*t about buying Travis Scott golf cleats? Or is this more like that pair of Yeezy 350 football cleats they released in like 2016 that everyone was buying so they could actually say they owned a pair of Yeezys? Most (real) golfers that I know just want to play golf…they’re definitely not lining up for sneakers.
2. 200 yards is a relatively low barrier to entry for a golfer imo…not much like a dunk, not much like a kick flip. Any golfer who knows how to swing a club should be able to smack a 200 yard drive relatively easy. So rest assured that ‘real golfers’ won’t be too hard up to get their hands on these. It’s gonna be those semi-coordinated resellers who are actually buying these.
3. If u want to be sure you can sell through a dumb release like ‘travis Scott air Jordan golf cleats’, make sure you come up with an equally dumb viral marketing ploy to get everyone talking about it. Like yardage requirements.
4. Does anyone else look at every single post about this and say to themselves, with conviction, ‘who in their right mind actually gives a sh*t?’
5. How many pairs of these could they have possibly made? If it’s a lot, this dumbass marketing ploy actually makes sense. If it’s a little, all they had to say was ‘Travis Scott Jordan 1’ and they woulda sold out.
Everything I see regarding this release pushes me just a little further away from thinking that this hobby, as an IG entity, can survive. I hate saying ‘literal’, but everything Travis is involved in lately feels like a literal circus. This feels like the time U2 put their album on everyone’s iTunes or the time Coke changed their logo…like…did anyone really ask for this?
