The other day I heard someone say that you can only see a movie once, and that’s because every time you see it after that initial time, you’re a different person and your expectations are different EVERY SINGLE TIME.

And, silly me, I immediately equated it with shoes. Because I know how many of us buy up these shoes that we couldn’t buy when we were younger in an attempt to…re-live the past? Or…? What is it? Why do we just have to have those shoes from our childhood? What are we trying to accomplish by purchasing those old shoes?

I’m guilty of it, for sure. It was one of my first ‘goals’ as a sneakerhead. But I noticed, after coppin all those ‘firsts’ for the second time, they didn’t bring me what I thought they would. They brought me closure, of sorts, but…did I just build them up too high in my mind?

The shoes you see above - they were each of that models ‘first’ for me. And they were only my ‘first’ because I was trepidations with those models (or, they just weren’t widely available). I don’t know if I’d care to own any of them ever again cuz I’ve found others I’ve preferred in their lines…but it keeps me asking - should we care that it’s the same 10 models being released over and over and over again ‘for yhe culture’, or am I thinking about it unfairly?
