Some interesting convo going on over at Twitter…From what I can gather, @jaetips said something about his super popular @saucony collaboration regarding resale and someone blasted him for it - basically saying it’s unbecoming..and a million people have chimed in on it. So here’s my contribution to the discussion…
I’ve done this before…I’ve celebrated the public reception regarding some of the things I’ve built, so it’s not something that bothers me…I mean…after all…what is social media supposed to be used for exactly? Isn’t it hard to be humble when you’re stuntin’ on a Jumbotron?
Truth be told - I don’t know much about these guys…but one of the things to keep in mind here is that @jaetips designed a @saucony colorway that people actually want. That is no easy feat. Can you think of any Saucony that has been in high demand ever? I know there are a couple, but they did a similar experiment with a bunch of IG dudes a few years ago that was cool but wasn’t in high demand AT ALL…Doing that with a dunk? Easy. Saucony? Not so easy.
But if you don’t like a creator bragging about his successes…it’s ok, it likely just means that everything ain’t for you. There are certainly braggy personalities on social media that absolutely get under my skin. And for that, I tend to stay away.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting. IMO corporations do this all the time. So if you are NOT a major corporation and you build something dope - by all means show it off and celebrate yourself!
