Someone in my comments mentioned the term ‘shock fashion’ and this is how I’ve begun to look at these things.
If you asked me what the most prevalent sneaker I saw at ComplexCon, I’d say it was the Air Flea 2…and…yea…again…definitely not for me. I’d venture to say I saw at least 20 pairs there…some up close, others from far away - it’s definitely a popular shoe.
I saw one woman wearing a pair of Big Red boots, but she wasn’t highlighting them - it looked kinda like she was trying to hide them, actually.
But it all made me think of that ISPA Mind Body shoe…maybe not consciously another entry into the ‘shock fashion’ lexicon, but they certainly seem to be shockingly ugly (I wouldn’t know, though, I still haven’t seen a pair in person).
So I guess…if the Mind Body ISPA could get a co-sign or a collaborator like @cactusplantfleamarket - how long before we see everyone and their mother proudly rockin’ a pair?
