What do you do when eBay or Stockx rejects your shoe? If you’ve ever been in a relationship of any sort, you probably notice that the most frustrating thing in the world is when you are being stonewalled. Meaning…you feel as though nothing you say is heard. Nothing you say is considered. Nothing you say is having an impact whatsoever. To me, at least, there’s nothing more frustrating.
And it’s kind of funny, because, obviously, close relationships are charged. We have a vested interest in how they turn out. We mostly want to get along with the people in our lives. So it’s actually kind of surprising when it happens with strangers. Because, IMO, strangers really shouldn’t have the ability to drive us into a rage. Should they?
And so the case with the eBay/StockX/GOAT authenticator is born. Not to say that this exists only with these companies, but as sneakerheads, they are the prime example of how much the ‘digital age’ can really suck.
Really, this is part of the reason I try not to mess with any of these apps any more than I have to…What the hell is some recently hired know-nothing going to tell me about a pair of sample shoes that I bought that came out before he was born? What do I care what he says about what I choose to buy? Why should I trust that kid over my 30+ years of self-studying sneakers?
What do you do if/when one of these companies rejects one of your sales because they can’t determine the authenticity of a pair of shoes you sold? Or, even worse, what if they determine that the shoes you thought were authentic actually aren’t? Or, even worse, what if THEY got it wrong and charged you some bullsh*t cancellation fee due to their error? And then…even worse…you can’t even talk to someone to appeal your case! This is the internets version of stonewalling…
