My blog has maintained a pretty consistent readership over the past couple of years I’ve been posting…right around 35-40%…and I understand why - we are ALL drowning in content. But. I dunno. I want to provide value for you. And if I'm not, then all means, remove yourself from the mailing list. No need to continue this one-sided relationship where I bang away at the blog trying to reach you and you hit that 'delete button' quicker than you can open it...
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that people are absolutely SWIMMING in content. I was swimming in newsletters for a while, too…I think I was getting around 6 or 7 at one point. But then I put on a brave face, started *actually* reading them, and culled my list into the top 3 that provide value for me. The rest I unsubscribed from. Because, I mean, I’m not paying for them, right?
I’m not trying to make a million dollars from a substack…far from it. And charging $5 is probably going to severely limit my reach. But. I'd rather people were making a conscious choice to mess with me than just signup because it's easy.
Tell your neighbors, tell your friends, tell your kids…if you haven’t yet signed up (or unsubscribed), now would be the time to do it!
