I love how I started the week out asking if the Jordan and Kobe statues did sneakerheads justice (I don't think they did) and within one week AI's statue dropped and...a couple of things:
1. It's not disrespectful nor is it a 'mini-me' statue. It's just another statue that matches the other statues outside of the sixers stadium.
2. IMO, the sculptor DID us sneakerheads justice with this choice...let me explain:
Obviously, the original Question is a FAR more popular shoe and a far more recognizable shoe. So much so that it seems to be THE ONLY SHOE THAT REEBOK KNOWS HOW TO RELEASE AND RE-RELEASE AND RE-RE-RELEASE over and over again.
BUT.
I know @nickengvall and the fellas @sneakerhistory might have some strong words for me...From what I remember...The Answer IV is the shoe that AI had his best career years in...I know AI was a cultural force, but to me...his most memorable years as this cultural force ALL occurred in the IV's. Is it because the IV's was MY first pair of Iversons? Or, did I buy that pair because of what HE did in that pair? From what I remember, he won the league MVP in the IV's and he made his mark in the finals in IV's. And...as dumb as it sounds...the 'stepover' on Lue was also the IV...
So...I guess...when I think of 'Iverson Shoes', I think of Questions. But when I think of Allen Iverson, the player, I think of IV's.
Tell me I'm wrong.
