I think I understand that the point of high fashion is to generally move things in a certain direction…and I suppose I kinda understand the trickle down effect that high fashion has on ‘lesser’ brands. Thing is, tho, it seems like the offerings from the lower brands have a MUCH longer shelf life.

Here’s an example (that I might have wrong): that balenciaga triple S…the big chunky one with multiple soles…that shoe i see as having kickstarted the ‘chunky dad shoe’ era…that shoe was considered ‘out of style’ pretty much by the time it became widely accessible. While the shoes influenced by its trend are still acceptable to this day, it’s become a bit of an afterthought.

I’ve never been big on many of these designs but it’s interesting to see how they surprise people (through social media), a few unique individuals gobble them up, and within 6-9 months, the trend has pushed to more accessible brands, and then it’s time to move on. There really seems to be no longetivity…am I trippin or am I trippin…
