See this is one of those things that if you told me 20 years ago I wouldn’t have understood the point, but now it’s so obvious and transparent that it makes me feel like an idiot…I’ve been duped.
I thought I was an individual, I thought I was important, I thought I was unique. Turns out, all I’ve been is another customer for the never ending profit machine.
For all we bitch and moan about with these MASSIVE companies - we ain’t it. We ain’t monarch consumers. We really aren’t even all that expressive cuz all we really do is try to personally flip what they’ve given us. We claim individuality but the only real individuality comes from creating our own…which…I don’t know if many of us are even capable.
And even though it’s not the point - it is tangential - does anyone else feel like they’ve been punked into thinking that walking around with a massive corporations logo prominently displayed on their body is not akin to being an absolute simp?
