In Oakland, the city government recently placed 50 of these statues/art installations in various places around town to commemorate the Oakland @athletics ... Very similar to the painted cows you might find in New York or the painted hearts you might find in San Francisco... Anyway, I usually go for a morning run around 5am, and every single morning since these statues have been out there I've freaked out or jumped to the side while coming up on one as my mind - in it's dreary state - hasn't processed that these are just statues and not actually 7 foot people just standing there ready to murder me on my morning run. I think it's an awesome touch but putting them behind corners and in tight spaces make them kinda creepy 😂
