This is a super deep question (to me) that I’ve been struggling with for the better part of 3 years now and I still don’t have an answer for myself…
I know there’s plenty that stay buying shoes to stay in the culture
I know there’s a few that get seeded and no longer have to buy to stay close to the culture
And I know there’s those that have stopped buying and have let go of the culture as a consequence
There’s this weird juxtaposition when looking at consumerism-based communities…almost every other community spends money on a unifying center, but many are more like byproducts of the ultimate goal…think of…like…gym culture and monthly dues. Or drinking culture where alcohol is the commodity.
But sneakers? If you no longer want to buy sneakers how much do you really care?
