Now that sports cards have been creeping into the ‘mainstream’ and sneakerheads have been creeping into cards...y’all better believe the bridges are being built. Grading is coming to sneakers. SO. How do we get sneaker grading to take off? Seriously I’ve been working on this ‘Sneaker Grading’ (aka 'Shoemetrics') for the past 6 years now and, although I’ve graded a couple of thousand pairs of shoes it clearly has a ways to go before most people even know it exists…

I don’t know if it was card grading that actually turned me away from continuing to collect cards as a kid or if it was a massive shift in priorities, but I suspect it was a mixture of both. If I’m being totally honest - Card grading frustrated the hell out of me. It basically told me that my prized possessions - all these ‘limited edition’ cards - were basically worthless if they weren’t in perfect condition. And someone out there somehow thought I’d want to PAY to learn that all of my cards were worthless? GTFO lol

80m items graded by PSA alone, though. Looks like they’ve had the last laugh.

Regardless of how you or I feel, sneaker grading is on it’s way. I feel like I was about 5 years early with Shoemetrics, but that gives me 5 years worth of knowledge while the rest of the world is catching up. And with the amount of attention being paid to sneakers as a ‘collectible’ and the amount of money being spent day in and day out - it’s becoming more important by the day. You don’t have to believe me, but BELIEVE ME - it *will be a thing within the next 5 years. If collectors are spending - collectively - $30 BILLION dollars a year on sneakers (look at the latest @stockx report) do you really think a benchmarking service is not going to pop up? I’m already prepared for competition.

Again - it might not be me and it might just end up being some big @$$ company with an unlimited bank account...it doesn’t matter...it’s coming.
