Lots of good answers on that last post...to be honest I’ve been kind of at a loss for why this hasn’t really taken off. I’ve got the whole thing built out, I’ve built ‘the world’s only graded marketplace’ and haven’t seen any traction. Y’all know me more for my long-winded stories and the cards than you do the fact that I started this whole thing on the back of a software platform and process that me and a few friends built.

What I’ve noticed in most of my discussions with people in the sneaker space - the ‘sneaker resale market’ is more about clout chasing and stuntin’. The vast majority of people in the ‘hobby’ have very little interest in looking at these shoes as ‘collectibles’ and have much more interest in wearing their shoes and showing them off. Most people care more about the utility than the collectibility.

Way more people in this space want to wear their sneakers than want to see them sealed in display cases in their homes. And I don’t know if I blame them.

In my experience...shop owners don’t want me grading their inventory because nearly every pair of brand new pair of shoes comes with mutiple flaws and everything ‘new’ grades at about a 8.5-9.5/10. And nobody wants to walk into a store and *not* buy a brand new pair of 10/10’s. It just doesn’t compute.

That being said...grading a DS Jordan collection last night I found 2 perfect 10/10’s - keep in mind I haven’t found a 10/10 in years. It really is a crapshoot with DS shoes.

I think if (or, when), people start looking at shoes as more than just ‘fashion statements’, maybe they’ll see the value in grading, but until then I’m gonna keep grinding and tryna figure out the avenues…
