I’ll go into it a bit more tomorrow...but I got this pair in the mail directly from my dude in Colombia - @dirugo1 . As repayment for a favor, he sold these to me for about $300 USD and another $60 for shipping. He told me not to send him any cash until the shoes arrived so I could inspect them beforehand and when I decided they looked good we discussed payment options.
Paypal was a no-no...too many fees for international customers. World Remit would take too long and he couldn’t do it without a certain ID. We tried Xoom and we ran into another issue. Bank transfer was rejected for whatever reason. They were ALL full of fees and red tape. So I asked him if he’d take Doge...which would be basically an instant transfer with no fees. He was receptive.
I almost paid him close to 10,000 doge for them at the time...February 7th...when Dogecoin was around about $0.04. He was a bit hesitant - I’m assuming because it’s a ‘meme’ coin - and decided to just eat the PayPal fees instead. But seeing Doge this morning at $0.40 cents nearly 2 months later...I almost paid $4k for these @jbalvin Jordan 1s... 😂
Anyway, for anyone who thinks that crypto is just a sham or whatever...this is a perfect example of one of it’s primary features. The ease with which crypto can travel across the world from one person to another with virtually no delays (or fees) whatsoever is powerful. And that’s part of the reason all of these news outlets and media folks shit on it...it’s because THEY aren’t getting paid on it.
Again - IMO this is the future of money and finance and banking. If any of y’all want to talk about it ever...my DMs are WIDE open.
