If you haven’t been paying attention (where the hell have you been?)...a bunch of musicians and super popular people in the world have been droppin NFTs lately. I saw yesterday that both @eminem AND @asaprocky recently released NFTs...in addition to @snoopdogg , @mfdoom masks and azealiabanks dropping an audio sex tape and @lilyachty and @6ix9ine0fficial and @souljaboy and @lilpump and @bhadbhabie and @postmalone and...the list goes on and on. They’ve all dropped NFTs
I had heard of this dude named @3lau who is like first dude to really use NFTs as his medium of distribution, and it’s worked out for him pretty magnificently...I think dude has done all kinds of cool shit with NFTs (although I’m not totally sure what), but everyone is using him as the example for things that can be done - most importantly using NFTs in real world applications (ie: ticket sales). I know that in a similar space, @deadmau5 has been pretty active, too.
As far as the rap stuff - I’m not really ‘wowed’ by any of it, but I think it’s dope that people are starting to see at least *some* value here. I think the PERFECT scenario in a traditional music sense would be that 1 of 1 Wu Tang album that dropped a few years back would be perfect as only one person could own it at a time…
I don’t know...I don’t think what’s being released is all that compelling (yet) unless it’s tied to something in the real world. Eminem selling 50 digital files of a spinning middle finger for $5K/each doesn’t really do it for me. And I’m kind of thinking - like ‘man you’ve sold 100m albums and now you’re coming here with a gif of a spinning middle finger?’ Who thought this was a good idea? Who did he pay to come up with this idea?
Anyway, I’m working hard to make sure the application of my NFTs is more compelling and tied to something a bit more fun, but it’s going to take a bit of trial and error. What do y’all think of what some of these musicians have dropped?
