Semi-emotional post:

A few months ago, my oldest son (10) is looking at my shoes and says ‘I want a pair of jordans’.

Now, typically, I try to keep him away from the shoe thing because I think it’s a mental sickness and I don’t want him to suffer the same duality I go through on a day to day, so I kind of murmur an ‘hmm ok’ under my breath and keep it moving.

A few days later, I come across a pair of brand new 3’s in his size for about $30. I pick em up and present them to him. He puts them on his feet right away and has proceeded to wear them daily for the past few months.

Instead of him doing this whole ‘oh man they’re so cool I need to preserve them as long as possible’, he proceeds to absolutely dog the shit out of them. He wears them without any reservations whatsoever. He wears them doing any and every activity outside the home.

He does, precisely, what I wish I would do with my shoes.

Sitting here, looking at them now…I’m reminded of why I liked shoes in the first place. It wasn’t the marketing or the money or the accolades - it was the physical wearing and use of the product.

Not to preach to anyone - but the pic of my kids 3’s is what I feel we should all aspire to. Rockin it.
