A couple of months ago I was at my local thrift and they had a pair of these @barneysny x @newbalance 1700’s in my size - absolutely cooked - for $60.
Being that this is one of those pairs I’ve had my eyes on for ages, I snapped a pic, threw it on the gram and put up a simple poll: ‘should I buy these given the price and condition’. Most of the responses were also torn - understanding the dilemma of wanting something for a long time - finding it - but also understanding the condition. Could they be brought back to life?
Ultimately, I decided against it - I didn’t think it was worth the effort. A few hours later, @john.cocozza.1 swoops in with a banger: “I think I have 4 DS pairs of these at my parents house in your size…if I do I’ll send you one.” WHAT?!???!
I’ve had a lot of dudes tell me - in the DMs - that they’d be sending me something, so I was kind of cautiously apprehensive…but…John came THROUGH!
Through the years I’ve met a bunch of dudes with a similar collaborative mindset - we do this because we like to. This is what I love about sneakers - finding that common ground.
