The first time I saw hyperflights in person was at a Footlocker in Costa Mesa where my buddy @dostthouevenboost lived. We were headed to play ball at his local 24 hour fitness and I needed some shoes. I copped the black patent pair and went to work. I was totally feelin myself until the guy I was guarding literally dunked on me. I mean this guy absolutely posterized me. Disrespectful as hell. That was the first time I had been in that situation so I didn’t know what to do or how to react. So.
I took a break. Went to the sidelines. Caught my breath. Assessed my life. Without a word, I removed my shoes, put them back in the box and asked my buddy if he could drive me back to the Footlocker. I immediately returned them. I gave them some excuse about ankle issues and injury risk. And they gave me my money back. Fuck basketball. I’m not paying that kinda money to feel like that.
And that was my short-lived experience with hyperflights.
