Back when I used to collect baseball cards pretty seriously (like 1987-1991), other than the my home team cards and/or Griffey Jr. cards, we were always hoping to pull an ‘error’ card because they could go for a few bucks…error cards were always so interesting…

The first time I thought I was going to find an equivalency in sneakers was when Jordan brand dropped these ‘error’ Photo Blue IX’s a few years back. They have the same product code and everything…

The story went that the manufacturer inadvertently produced a few thousand (?) pairs of the Photo Blues with a black sole instead of a white sole. So they sent all of the ‘error’ pairs to outlets.

The prices never really took off and it’s interesting to see that the fixed pair actually goes for roughly 3x the price of the error pair - even though the rarity of the error pair is far higher…

Really interesting if you ask me. I wish we saw more of these ‘errors’ in sneakers…
