When I was like 5 years old my parents got me a pair of checkered vans for my birthday… first day of use they got wet, so I left them outside the front door of our trailer. Woke up the next morning and one of the shoes was gone…we speculated all day about maybe a dog taking it or whatever, but really, there is absolutely no use in owning the other shoe if you’ve lost the one. The following morning, the other shoe was gone, too.
I don’t know if my parents sneakily got rid of the other shoe or if the person who swiped the one on the first night came back and swiped the second on the second night, but that was the only new pair of shoes I owned (for literally one day) until I was 11 years old.
I don’t normally do this but I got lost scrolling through this sellers listings the other day..,Seller ‘wndowshopping ’ on eBay sells a literal TON of mismatched, same sized, same model shoes and it’s mesmerizing to scroll through and see the stuff that’s listed. I mean, for all the pairs of shoes in the world it’d seem like we’d see more mismatches, but I dunno, maybe it’s just not advertised. I don’t see mismatched shoes often, but when I do I always think back to that pair of checkered vans. Happy hunting!
