So I’m sitting here on a park bench and I’m kinda marveling at this pair of presto utilities I’ve owned for the past few years…
I bought them - USED - a year or so before the pandemic started for $37.50 and I’ve taken them though some serious terrain - hiking and walking and running and biking and skating in rain, rivers, snow, and 150+ degree asphalt and everything in between…I’ve taken them camping and sat with them a few inches behind a campfire. A quick calculation in my head tells me I think I’ve travelled around 280 miles in them.
They leak when it rains and they get a bit hot at times, but overall, they’ve become my go to pair for outdoor activities.
If I didn’t care about about style or the way I (think) I look, and all other things being equal, I’m reasonably certain I could manage 10 pairs of these for the rest of my life. No other shoes necessary. That’d be it. These 10 pairs, , with each pair lasting approximately 5 years each…I think I could get to 90 in these.
So, I guess, the question is…do I really need the other 250+ other pairs of shoes I currently own? 😂
