This stupid shoe has eluded me.
I’ve tried buying slightly different versions of this shoe for 19 years now and have *never* been able to actually secure a pair. Sure, I’ve SEEN lots of pairs…I’ve SEEN pairs for absurd amounts of money and I’ve SEEN pairs that I simply won’t put any money towards because I am a thrifty kinda guy, especially when it comes to shoes.
I tried buying the mids in 2003 (maybe it was 2004) and have been on the hunt for them in my size ever since. There’s always been a pair or two on eBay that I just refuse to engage with. Grailed. Mercari. I’ve considered buying bigger or smaller sizes just to order them.
When KITH re-released these as a low, I thought I’d have tons of opportunities to cop. Not enough have come up.
When KITH re-re-released them again, I thought I had a chance. None.
I almost bought a pair off Grailed at the beginning of the pandemic, but thought it was stupid for me to spend any money on something so frivolous. So I passed.
I almost bought a pair on Depop from some dude in the UK a few weeks back, but he wanted 40 GBP for shipping (alone).
So the other day I saw this pair on eBay and figured…screw it, you only live once.
I bid the minimum amount (still a bit high IMO), and ended up winning the auction last night. A bit more than I would have liked to pay, but whatever, 19 years is a long time to wait. I paid immediately and went to sleep knowing I would finally have my pair.
What do I wake up to?
An order cancellation and a refund. With no real reason for the cancellation…I go to message the seller and get the screen above.
@ebaysneakers - what do you gain by refusing to let people communicate with one another? Is there actually a reason for it (other than ’because that’s how StockX and GOAT do it)?
Additionally, if you know this dude - @daniombusiness - feel free to tag him in the comments. I genuinely want to know why my order was cancelled.
