The first time I ever experienced the internet on my own was in 1997 - I actually took a high school class my senior year called ‘introduction to the internet’ and the premise of the class was to build a simple website showcasing some things you were interested in. No clue what I built, but I do remember I had links to 2pac sites and basketball sites and baseball card sites. Funny how much things have changed (or not).
I was digging through some stuff the other day and came across a bunch of old magazines and comic books and albums that I was never able to get rid of…
It’s funny looking at them today - I have several issues of:
- The Source (hip-hop)
- Slam (basketball)
- Kicks (shoes)
- Thrasher (skating)
And a bunch of comic books that I ‘collected’ in hopes of them being worth a bunch of money one day.
Having grown up in the mountains of Northern California with limited TV, these magazines and publications opened the world for me…
If you’ve been following me for long, you know that I talk about (most of) these things (at length) from time to time. This is WHERE I learned about it. This is WHERE I learned to love to read. This is WHERE I (probably) learned how to write about things I’m interested in. IG is where it was all validated for me.
No question here. Just an informative post. That Ghost Rider cover is WILDDDDD
