I’m starting to see a lot of these LV x AF1’s posted on Chinese social media and I think we’re gonna start seeing quite a few out here…The Empreinte leather pairs - the monotoned monogram soft leather pairs - are ALL over. I follow like 5 or so pretty well known people in the space and every single one of them is posting pairs. I probably don’t need to say this, (because anyone who is actually in the market for a real pair is probably a Savant as well), but if you’re you’re in the market for a real pair - those are probably pretty well documented, as they were the pairs that Virgil seeded. Make sure you know the provenance. (Wouldn’t an internal RFID NFT gone over perfectly with these pairs?).
The Damier leather pairs - the ones from the Sotheby’s auctions in the classic LV print colors - currently available at a family friendly price point of $250k/pair (swipe) - haven’t seemed to hit (yet), but once those hit it’s going to be like the early 2000’s with the tall T’s and throwbacks all over again! FABOLOUS and DIPSET have once again, entered my mind.
Let me just say that I love the fact that Virgil seeded these (the authentics) to people that he felt made an impact…I think that’s neat, and I think that’s a really cool thing. What I don’t like is this thing that they keep on doing - they keep on doing this whole ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ thing, and I think it’s just so antiquated and I really wish they had some product people that could find something smarter than just ‘let’s make something so ridiculously rare. And then we’ll push it to all of the media outlets and push push push it. And then everyone will see them and want them but no one without a never-ending bankroll could ever actually every be able to get a pair.’ Isn’t there a better way?
