Any of y’all heard of this dude Luigi Lineri? Apparently the article I found on this dude was from like 2016, but I only came across it the other day when a hippie friend shared it on his FB.

Cliff notes: this dude in Italy collects stones. He’s been collecting them for like a forty years (almost as long as I’ve been alive) and sources them from this river by his house.

Taking a look through his pics…I was like…’oh…so this dude has like a sickness. WAIT…that means I have a sickness! WAIT NO! My sickness is better than his! WAIT NO it’s not, I’m just handing my money over to companies that don't give a sh*t about me when I could be collecting other stuff for free! WTF!’

I took a dip in the comments on the FB post expecting people to talk about the things that they collect and the vast majority of the comments were from environmentalists talking about erosion…like ‘oh if he only knew the damage he has done to the riverbed (that he has been sourcing them from)’ and then I felt some real shame…like why am I so conditioned to think of everything in *commercial terms? Why is everything about money?

I looked at some of the pics on his website (geocities FTW) and he’s got shots of similarly shaped stones…and they’re not really common shapes. So it’s kind of cool.

I just thought…’what? There are SO many ways to look at things. So many ways to look at stuff. And SO many ways to justify it. Is this just the sickness of the human race? What is it that compels us to just collect stuff? Shoes? Cards? Comics? Games? STONES?
